Montrond Castle history
During the French Wars of Religion, in July 1562 the castle was captured by the Huguenots. The castle was liberated by the royal troops in 1594. In September 1793 the castle was set on fire by revolutionary troops. After 1828 the castle was destroyed and used as a quarry. Since 1984 it has been the property of the commune of Montrons-les-Bains. The castle is operated by the Association of Friends of the Castle.
