Dilsberg Castle history
During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was one of the most contested fortifications. In 1622, after a long siege, the castle was occupied by General Tilly. In 1633 the Swedes recaptured the castle. The fortifications of the casle were not damaged.
Description of Dilsberg Castle
The castle has the outer bailey and the inner bailey. The gate to the inner bailey is guarded by two flanking towers. The northern and western defensive walls, which are up to 16 meters high, have been preserved and restored.
