Lichtenberg Castle in Rhineland-Palatinate by EuroTourData
Lichtenberg Castle is the restored ruins of the spur castle, built around 1200 as the fortified residence of Counts of Veldenz. The castle was never conquered and was the only undestroyed castle in the Palatinate after the Nine Years' War. The castle was badly damaged by a major fire on October 26, 1799, and has been a ruin ever since. The castle has a length of 425 meters and contains two museums. In 1969, the Palatinate district of Kuzel became the owner of the castle.
