Reifenberg Castle is the restored ruins of the hill castle and urban castle, built around 1220 for the noble family of Reifenberg as the counter-castle against the House of Falkenstein.

Reifenberg Castle history
Since the 14th century, the lords of the castle have been involved in numerous internecine wars, in which they fought not only with the House of Falkenstein but also with the imperial cities of Frankfurt and Mainz. The castle was conquered in 1560 and burned down in 1587. The castle was restored but was again destroyed during the Thirty Years' War in 1646. In 1689, it was finally destroyed during the Nine Years' War.
Description of Reifenberg Castle
The castle has the rectangular 5-story tower house, 19 meters high, the round keep 25 meters high and the powerful shield wall with round corner towers. Since 1995, the castle has been operated by the association Burgvereines Reifenberg e.V.
