Ronneburg Castle history
In the first half of the 16th century, the castle was rebuilt as the residence of the County of Isenburg-Ronneburg and acquired its modern form. In 1621 a fire destroyed most of the castle. During the Thirty Years' War, the damaged and empty castle was captured and plundered by the Croatian cavalry from the imperial army.
