Sterrenberg Castle in Rhineland-Palatinate by EuroTourData
Sterrenberg Castle is the restored ruins of the hill castle, built around 1180 as the imperial castle for the ministerialis Lords of Bolanden.
Since 1946, Sterrenberg Castle is owned by the Rhineland-Palatinate General Directorate for Cultural Heritage (in German Generaldirektion Kulturelles Erbe Rheinland-Pfalz).

Description of Sterrenberg Castle
On the east side of the castle there are two restored defensive walls with castle gates. The outer defensive wall is over 9 meters high. The inner defensive wall is 12 meters high. Both defensive walls are about 2.5 meters thick. Between defensive walls is an outer bailey. In the courtyard there is the square belfry 14.7 meters high with access to the upper observation floor. There is also the defensive wall on the west side and a restaurant is located nearby.
