Brick Gate by EuroTourData
Brick Gate is the northeastern fortified gateway of Amberg Medieval Fortifications. The gate consists of the powerful square gate tower and two round towers located on either side of the main tower. The gate tower was installed in front of the defensive wall and has the connection to the wall with its rear part. This arrangement allows the warriors to keep flanking fire from the tower on the attacker enemy. In 1581 the gate was modernized: three floors were added to the gate tower and two side towers were rebuilt as battery towers. Info is based on the article Ziegeltor (Amberg) of German Wikipedia.
