Deining Gate was built around 1517 as the eastern city gate of Nördlingen Medieval Fortifications for protected the road to Regensburg and Wien. The gate has one powerful gate tower. The tower was captured by the imperial forces during the siege of 1634 and the defenders were forced to set fire to the gate tower.
