Femöre Coastal Artillery Battery by EuroTourData
Femöre Coastal Artillery Battery was built in 1964 as the artillery fort into the rock to protect the seaport of Oxelösund. The armament consisted of three separate artillery turrets with a firing range of 13 km. and a rate of fire of 25 rounds per minute. The artillery turrets were located at three locations along the southern side of the peninsula, at intervals of approximately 200 meters, and were connected by a central tunnel over 450 meters long. All rooms of Femöre Battery, including combat command post, crew room, conference room, kitchen, workshops, and the hospital was created by an explosion inside the rock. Info is based on the article Femörefortet of Swedish Wikipedia.
